Drunk-ish: A Sobriety Podcast

This is not your average sobriety story. Matthew Hahn was a meth-addicted burglar who thought he’d just pulled off the heist of his life. Then he cracked open a safe and found a memory card.

Many moons ago, I met the comedian and author Stefanie Wilder-Taylor after appearing on the Sword & Scale podcast. I think she listened to the episode while on a treadmill, but my memory might be failing me there. Either way, she’s got her own podcasts these days and one them is about sobriety and recovery. It was fun to chat with her about this particular part of my journey. From the Drunk-ish Podcast website:

“Okay, buckle up.

This is not your average sobriety story. Matthew Hahn was a meth-addicted burglar who thought he’d just pulled off the heist of his life. Then he cracked open a safe and found a memory card—one that would lead to the arrest of a monster, and change Matthew’s life forever.

In this episode of Drunk-ish, we talk about: • Getting high in 8th grade and getting arrested with a bong at a school dance • Years of meth-fueled burglaries (and yes, he once robbed a DEA agent) • What it felt like to be facing ‘100 years to life’ in prison • How he found recovery in a jail cell—with nothing but a sponsor, a pen, and some serious introspection • The moment he knew he had to stop running, and start doing the right thing

Matthew’s story has it all—crime, consequences, and a truly mind-blowing redemption arc. It’s dark, it’s inspiring, it’s hopeful, and somehow, there are still laughs along the way. Because what else are you gonna do? If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to turn your life around—or just want to hear from someone who did—it’s all right here.”
